Van Dieman’s Moon Flower from the Night series is a medium royal blue ink with medium shading. It dries in 40 seconds in a medium nib on Rhodia and has an average flow. Van Dieman’s ink is made in Australia.
This fountain pen ink color is based on the delicate Moon Flower that only blooms at night. Bats and other nocturnal creatures eat its nectar. A “beautiful blue” is the best way to describe Moon Flower, a combination ink of too high quality dyes, mixed to a perfectly balanced saturation; not too light so as to appear washed out; not so heavy as to be overshadowed by sheen; just enough to be rich and to stand out by its own right. The hue of Moon Flower sits on the warmer side of blue, with light violet variations in heavier writing and ample shading in all pen and ink combinations.
